A tip for viewing photos on the Vintage Modified Web Site when using Windows and Internet Explorer is to right click on your Mouse with the cursor over the photo you want to view, then Click on "Open Link in New Window". The photo will then open in a separate window which you can close after viewing the photo without going back and forth using your back button.
AOL users visiting sites
to view photographs should be aware
that the AOL default for viewing pictures is set to compress
images when browsing. This allows for faster download times
but will degrade the photos significantly. When we (or any other
webmaster) load images onto a website we compress photos
the maximum amount possible without degrading the image.
Further compression will result in a lousy image display.
We don't use AOL, but
understand that to change the default
setting you have to go into My AOL menu, then preferences, then
there are options for WWW (web preferences) one of which is for
showing images. There is a checkbox that says "Use compressed
images when on". If this box is checked then images that you load
will be compressed by AOL . Simply uncheck the box and the
images will come through uncompressed. You then will have to
exit AOL and reload it to make the change effective.
