This is Frank Manafort holding the Checkered Flag after a 1964 Plainville Stadium Sportsman win.  The man on the right is starter Bob Beyers who held almost every position from scorer to flagman and was the Racing Director at the Stadium from 1977 until it closed in 1981.  Bob, now in his 70's, was seriously injured when he was pinned between a pickup truck and his car a week and a half ago.  Bob received leg and hip injuries and is now in a rehabilitation center for the next couple of weeks before he heads home for a few months more of rehab.  Cards of cheer can reach Bob at: Bob Beyers, Cricket Hill Rd., Bristol, CT. 06010.
