A LOOK AT GEORGE LOMBARDO

Racing Pioneer George Lombardo a 2 time Plainville Modified champion in the 60's in the Dalena's XD-2 Modified was successful at tracks all over the Northeast before he decided to stay close to home at Plainville Stadium during the twilight of his career.  George was the one of the favorites during the 50's at tracks such as the Waterford Speedbowl and Riverside Park Speedway, tracks he called home at various times in his career being among the leaders on the all-time winners list during the 50's and 60's at all three tracks.

One of George's early rides around 1951 at the Waterford Speedbowl where he garnered many wins in the 50's.
 


One of the premier cars of the 50's was the Red Ram #21 owned by Norm Kies. Norm's #21 & 121 cars remained one of the top rides for over 3 decades.


George was one of the drivers of another successful car owners Leo Matte at Riverside Park. George is still 29th on the all-time Riverside wins list getting all his wins between 1953 & 1959.


George in the #62 at Plainville Stadium before the days of the XD-2. George was a 2 time Plainville Modified Champion racing against some of the best drivers of the day.
